When I'm on vacation with family and in-laws, I try only run 4 days a week, so I can spend more time with my family. So I get up early and try to be done before they are dressed to do anything. Tomorrow I do a 50k super early for me in the morning 6am. I never heard of 8hr races (I know there are 6, 12, 24hr and multi-day events), but it definitely sounds like an ultra. Depending on the course and conditions I'm sure some people will cover something like 50 miles or even more in 8hrs. Which is really amazing knowing how difficult it is to run just 26 miles
