Today's plan called for an 8K to 10K race, so I settled on a five miler. I didn't want to go race anywhere just so that I could have one morning to sleep in. That meant I was going to have to host my own "race." I did 3 miles of warm up, and then after a short rest, just like at a real race, I hit it. Using the McMillan calculator, I looked at to what a 3:10 marathon equates. It turned out to be a 6:28 pace, so I set the treadmill for 9.3 (6:27 pace) and just went. When I got to 4.5 miles, I picked it up each 1/10 mile. That's why my pace was a little faster. It turned out to be a huge confidence boosting run because it wasn't hard. Sure, it wasn't easy either, but I had a lot more left when I finished. And beside, with all of the PRs today, I couldn't be left out. Had this been a real race, I would have easily PR'd.

Awesome job!

Thanks, Melissa! I can't call it an official PR, but I know I could have done it had there been a race. That's good enough in my book. And I had no post-race soreness or any lingering issues today, so that gives me double confidence that it wasn't a hard effort.
