Track and share your training!

Dailymile makes it easy to keep track of your workouts. Map your routes and share with a community of active people.

Is it just me??? I try really hard to give some encouragement, high five, motivation to everyone I am friends with -- but find that only about a quarter of them give it back. IDK, but that really doesn't seem right? Why do people want to be friends if they don't want to give and take the encouragement? OK - I'll shut up now.

I know I need to get better about it! I'm usually in such a hurry in the mornings that I don't get to spend as much time as I'd like commenting...

I totally get it, and I also need to be better about it. Sometimes I'm just so busy that all I can do it log my workout and then move on, but I agree that we all need to take some time out and encourage more. Thanks for the wake up, Terri!

I agree Terri. I had over 200 friends. I now have 91. Time for a clean out perhaps?

I know I need to be a better friend. Going to try to do better this month even if it is just a big smile.

I try to spread the love around, that is one reason I try to not have too many people on my friends list. Some times I am guilty of not checking more then the first page though.

I have a lot of friends, but I try to give some encouragement to a number of people each time I get on. Sometimes it's tough if your workout times don't line up with theirs. For instance, I mostly see the posts of people who post in the morning because that's when I'm online.

I get it too, even though I'm still relatively new to DM! I try my best to keep up (since I'm in the UK and most of my followers post while I'm sleeping!), I catch up over my morning coffee a few pages and then again more in the later morning and then through-out the day as I can! Giving, sharing and receiving encouragement is one of the awesome things about this site and the ability to connect with others, too!!:)

    Nah... it's just you!! HAHAHA!
Maybe some people are shallow and just want to be popular instead of friendly. I allways try to respond to
    encouragement and motivation.
    Keep it up Terri!!

I'm new to all this, but it's one of the reasons I started, so I'll try to be better about it!

I have the offset schedule too. With kids, work, etc, my day are PACKED. I get to check DM once or twice a day (even less now that we have family in town) and I get to go through a page or two. Sometimes everything I'd say (as a noob) has already been said or there's nothing to add, otherwise I try to post something, just because I like getting posted to. But given the time constraints, I know I'm not giving back as much as I'm getting just yet.

I like Cathy K's idea -- just a big smile -- :-)... is helpful. I also agree with Tracy -- I just think if we can't keep up with the friends we have, then time to clean out your friend list to those you can support.

And Joe -- you are a smarty pants!! :-)

I feel like I am still new enough to DM and to running in general that I'm hesitant about saying anything to anybody for fear of sounding like a total dork. But that's not really a good reason! :-D (big smile!)

@Christine B. -- I know the feeling - I ran my first 5K in April - and I'm really quite slow. We can still give motivation!!

HAHAHAHA!! I'm glad you finally recognized my talent!!
You know you love it!!!! And hey, I can't run hardly at all...
COPD from over 40 years of smoking prevents it.
But, I can still walk my a$$ off!!!!!

Well thank you Terri!! I always appreciate your comments and I like to watch your progress as well!! I think people get in a hurry but have found it easier now to comment that I have DM on my phone but I know what you mean and your not alone a few of my friends I have never got comments from but thankfully I have you as a friend too that will help encourage when I need it too. THANKS!!!

Unfortunately, not everyone understands that a relationship is mutual. In the end I think you can know a lot of people, but only really be friends with the ones who support you as you support them.
