Teri a couple of questions...

Track and share your training!

Dailymile makes it easy to keep track of your workouts. Map your routes and share with a community of active people.

A couple of questions for my DM friends:
1. For those of you who do yoga, what are some good poses to do for my hips? While doing all the kicks in my kickboxing class it feels like I need to strengthen and/or stretch my hips/pelvic area.
2. I love my new cappuccino recipe and it's saving me about 150 calories each day by making my own. My son has one of those Keurig coffee machines and I'm using some coffee my niece left here. I'm only using 1/2 cup of coffee so I make a whole cup and dump 1/2 of it. I know you can buy a little basket and use coffee grounds instead of buying the little individual coffee packet things. If I do that can I use 1/2 the amount of grounds it calls for and 1/2 the amount of water to get 1/2 cup of coffee??? I no nothing about making coffee so if this is a stupid question I apologize, BUT as a teacher I know there are no stupid questions ;-)

Teri, that's why I do the routine that I do. My hips get sooooo tight from all the running... Warrior I & II and a zillion Downward Dogs, Triangle, reverse Triangle, Happy Baby...
PS. I am a "pot head". We drink A LOT of coffee. I have to have my ice coffee every afternoon. I love sugar-free hazelnut creamer. I know, it's made with Splenda/ rat poison, but I still drink it.

Teri - Yes, it's possible to make your 1/2 cup of coffee that way. You could also buy a cheap old coffee pot at a second hand shop, brew a pot of coffee, and keep some in the frig. You must be the only person in the world who takes just a 1/2 cup a day!! :)

And...for that matter, you could make the full cup of coffee, and keep 1/2 in the frig for the next day...those K-cups are too expensive to do what you are doing!!

After reading you dump half a k-cup down the drain every morning, it took all my self-restraint to NOT unfriend you. Isn't 'Thou Shalt Not Waste Coffee' the the eleventh commandment?

I use an Ecobrew - works great, and most Keurigs have settings for different sized cups - so yes, less grounds, smallest coffee cup setting.

I have no opinion yet of the first question but as Melanie already stated the Keurig has a setting for small that uses less water and makes a stronger cup. I use the small setting for two cups in one mug with two tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons half and half. Ok sometimes three each. Thats for breakfast I usually have more at work. I would use the small setting of your Son's machine and not throw away a half cup of coffee. Oh my chest hurts just thinking about you throwing out coffee!lol

Okay, guys to my defense, I did not pay for these K-Cups. They were given to us by someone whose machine broke. I do not like to be wasteful which is why I was asking about making 1/2 cup of coffee! I saved my 1/2 cup this morning and put it in the refrigerator. I'm going to try using it tomorrow. Since I actually use more milk than coffee in my "coffee" drink then I don't know that using leftover coffee will be detrimental. Since I am not a coffee connoisseur I'm not sure I'll notice the difference.

Warrior poses are great for my hips. I find the first half of Rodney Yee's power yoga is a great way to open them up at your own ability level.

To be completely honest, the thought of microwaving stale coffee is even MORE offensive than violating the 11th Commandment. I just don't understand how u can drink ONLY A 1/2 CUP!!??? If I could, I'd install an I.V. and main-line the stuff.

Eric, it's probably because my parents didn't drink coffee so I never encountered it until I was in college. I have always been a person who follows my own path so even though all my college friends drank it (and alcohol) I didn't jump on the bandwagon. In some respects I'm a rebel doing my own thing!

Butterflies and pigeons are great hip openers, Teri! I can't believe that you only drink a half cup of joe a day (I drink a lot of it myself)! But I do admire the fact that you walk to the beat of your own drum. You're awesome. :)
