Well, I'm going to count this race as my official PR because I know that it is a full 3.1 mile course. This race has and probably will always be one of my favorites - each year I've PRed here and the atmosphere is just so happy and exciting. I ran my first mile in 6:48 which is my track mile PR (!!!!) I felt great so I kept going and going and going.
Around mile 2.5 my speedy start started to catch up with me and I got passed by a few people but I kept going. As I neared the finish line I heard my coach yell "ERIKA, YOU GOTTA GO NOW!!! UNDER 24!!!" I glanced up at the time and, sure enough, it was 23:49. My coach started counting down from 10. It was crazy. I was already sprinting, but then I pushed harder and probably had my best kick of all time. I finished in 24:00.5 so I JUST missed breaking 24, but I'm happy with my time regardless! AWESOME way to end the season!


Sounds like an awesome race, way to push through!!! Hope your track season is just as successful :)

Thanks Hallie! I'm not planning on doing track this year, but I will keep running throughout the winter! I'm also planning on running another half in a few months.
