Would Rather call this a Walk 4.77 mi 00:57 11:59 pace

Terrible run. 2nd one in a row. Sure it was hot. Yeah, I had a rough work week, and a sick kid, etc.. Blah Blah Blah. I have no excuses. Mentally I was into it but My body was beat. No energy at all. Not sure why in Jan/Feb I was running 70 miles a month at 9:30 pace and now the last few months I have been running 50 miles/mo at 10:40 pace. Supposed to be getting better. Not worse. Ugh. Sorry to complain. I gotta start cross training and gaining strength.

Doode, the heat is fucking ridiculous. It is zapping energy right out of you. It is like kryptonite. Add that to life, even Superman would struggle. Don't beat yourself up about it. Go hug that sick kid. Do a cartwheel. Deep breath. Rest. Then get back out there and get to getting once again. You got this.

Great run. I think you will find that when it cools off you will be back to your 9:30 pace...maybe even faster. In the meantime, don't be hard on yourself. Get out there and have some fun!

i think everyone has their "summer" pace and their "winter" pace...and it's reflected as such. when i use the McMillan pace caculator, my "easy" range is 9:43-10:43...and i would def agree there are days (like winter!) that 9:43 feels lik a breeze, but on days like today...10:30 feels way more appropriate. the most imp thing is to listen to your body. 70 miles/month also only comes out to 17.5 miles/week....so if you are serious about getting faster, more miles would help tremendously

it's ok to complain. We all hit rough patches. I hit one today for sure too!! Still completed 4 1/2 miles! That is great.

It's the heat! Don't worry about it. You'll probably be gaining miles/speed again when the temps go down. Nice work out there!

This humidity is crazy. I have been slowing down a lot too and really struggling through runs these last couple of days

Totally the heat, don't beat yourself up about it. Better to run slower that pass out or vomit....I've seen runners get pretty close to that when they force themselves to run at their "usual" pace in extreme heat like that. Just of these runs as simply "conditioning your body".

Thanks everyone. Makes a lot of sense to me. Never really thought about the Summer vs Winter run styles/speeds, etc. Appreciate you guys always supporting me.
