Whooohoo! Wasn't sure how this run was going to feel, given my hip and the bike. Took the first 20 minutes super easy and paid attention to form. I got some new kixx too -- more cushiony than pr... read more

So I'm on Day 10 of Paleo eating. My DC has been trying to get me to try it for a while now, since I have a jacked thyroid and my medication is not helping a damned thing. Dropping a few pounds, ... read more

I started eating Paleo about 5 months ago. I was training for a half marathon and it took a week or so for me to have good energy for my runs. Now I'm training for Galveston 70.3 and I am feeling great! I will say that I'm not being as strict as I was in the beginning. I do eat some whole dairy occasionally and I eat rice/potatoes to refuel after tough workouts. If you haven't read "The Paleo diet for Athletes" you should check it out. I'm only about half way through but it's full of good information.

Wow! Seems like the year I don't do Gavleston, everyone else is -- including Lance Armstrong! Hahaha!!! I'll be volunteering and spectating this year. I may have to plant a DailyMile sign by the BAM! tent so I can get some shout-outs from my DM friends!

Stephen, you should try it. I would make sure you do some planning and shopping to have a successful first couple weeks. Once you get the hang of it, you'll figure out what your go-to foods are. I mainly did it because gluten can aggravate and immune condition that attacks the thyroid. I've tested negative for it, but since I have all the symptoms, it's possible it's a false negative (it happens in rare cases). No gluten, dairy, grains, peanuts or soy for me. :)

Naah... the run felt horrible! Had 10x2 mins at 10K pace and a 1 minute easy between. Ran a good 10k pace but sheeit, it took it all out of me and had to go REALLY EASY on the 1 min. Just a bad day. Now this morning? This morning I pounded out the swim. Felt really good!
