  1. RUN
    good 2.92 mi

Wish I'd worn my Garmin today because I think my pace was much better, despite that eternally evil climb up 148th. WHY CAN'T I LIVE SOMEWHERE FLAT, DAMMIT.

  2. RUN
    alright 5.1 mi 01:00 11:45 pace

Current training mantra: uhhh, I guess I can work on speed later.

  3. RUN
    blah 3 mi 00:35 11:39 pace

  4. swim
    good 26-lap swim 1300 m 00:35 43:19 pace

Longest swim to date, and pretty boring just tooling back and forth for half an hour (I counted the alphabet, which is the only way I can keep track of how many laps I've completed). Next time... read more

  5. VELO
    good Short post-work ride 5.3 mi 00:29 11.0mph pace

Short, mostly easy neighborhood ride with two big hills: one Not Bad, one Pure Evil. I thought after all the weeks of running I'd have an easier time on the Big Evil Hill, but NOOOOOO. Ow.

  6. RUN
good Great Kilted Run 5K 3.1 mi 00:28 08:52 pace

I wonder why my Garmin gives me a different pace result? Because 8:38 sounds cooler—like "sort of almost 8:00!" instead of "totally almost 9:00". Anyway, good race, crappy weath... read more

  7. swim
    good 16 laps and counting 800 m

First lap swim that went the actual distance of the Danskin. I didn't feel tired but I was really slow -- speeding up still causes me to forget everything about what I'm doing and start f... read more

  8. RUN
    good 2.5 mi

Super short outing just to try out my silly new running skirt, purchased specifically for next weekend's Kilt Run. 9:15 pace out, 10:30 pace back (stupid hills).

A fashionable Kilt I hope?! Sounds like a fun run next week.

  9. swim
    good 00:30

Good swim, for me anyway. Time to actually start counting laps.

  10. VELO
good Bothell Landing to Gasworks 33 mi

Gorgeous day for a bike ride, I had so much fun.

  11. swim
    good 00:30

First real swim workout since last summer. Still a crap-ass swimmer but it was much easier than a few days ago. For those of you who aren't total waterdorks, how do you manage to count laps? E... read more

  12. RUN
    4 mi 00:41 10:15 pace

First run since the marathon, and it felt pretty good. Next big event is the Danskin triathlon in August.

  13. RUN
alright 21-mile Sammamish Trail long run 21 mi 04:00 11:25 pace

Sunday's long, long, long, long-ass run, the last big one before the race on May 2. This was, well, LONG, and by the end I was feeling generally pretty wrecked, but overall it was much cheerie... read more

  14. RUN
good Short Friday run 3 mi 00:28 09:20 pace

Friday evening 1-way route from my house to a store where my husband and the kids picked me up. Kind of a fun way to get in a short run.

  15. RUN
good Short night run 2.75 mi 00:26 09:27 pace

This was a quick post-kid-bedtime run in the dark and the rain -- not my favorite conditions, but what can you do. Mornings are pretty much impossible right now so the short weekday runs have to ha... read more

You do it because it makes you happy and your body feel good. No on 'should this, should that'... Just kick it's ass whatever you feel like! ( :

Give yourself a break! 2.75 miles doesn't seem like much because of how far you've come--but they're still miles! And long runs are supposed to be slow--that's the point. Sounds like you're discounting the magnitude of what you're working towards. You're making progress towards something that less than like 1% of the population has ever done--how cool is that?

  16. RUN
alright 19-mile Sammamish River trail... 19 mi 03:45 11:50 pace

This was the run scheduled for today, but since an epic storm was forecasted to hit Seattle starting today I shuffled everything around so I could get it done yesterday while it was still . . . wel... read more
