#dailymission: OK - my favourite pre-race meal is left over burritos but I will settle for left over pizza, pasta, gummy bears, anything with hot sauce, toast, left over chinese, anything in the back of the fridge that hasn't experienced additional growth since getting to the back of the fridge, nachos and queso (that's for you Mofo ), or pretty much anything...except coffee. I drank a cup of joe before a morning run once and I had to make in the bushes. It was dark and I just prayed that the leaves I was grabbing weren't infested with bugs or some sort of itchy stuff. I lucked out...I wasn't itchy nor did I become overtaken by some parasitic outbreak. However, I don't drink coffee before my runs anymore.

    Interesting that coffee, which it typically easy on stomach did that to you, but none of the aforementioned stuff did. Wow.

    If you're not a regular coffee drinker, it's more effective than Ex-Lax.

    funny thing is that I drink a ton of coffee everyday. I think it was just the coffee and all of that bouncing around that running entails.

    I'm with ya, no coffee before running or any kind of exercise for that matter. After? Sure. Before? You're asking for trouble.

    I drink coffee the morning of my races. Let it do it's magic. Then I race. Never had an issue in a race.

    Coffee in the morning does that to me, too. Actually one of the things I like best about it! So no, I wouldn't be drinking it before a race, either. I save it to wash down the after-race pancakes with the family :-)
