It was good getting back to business after almost a week off. I only slept for about 5 hours (as usual) but woke up rested and ready to go. I felt pretty rickity for the first couple of miles but on the third mile I settled into a nice groove. I tried to push a bit for mile five and then hauled it back in for the last mile and a bit. (I say "hauled it back in" like it was intentional as opposed to the fact that I felt like my lungs were going to explode and I thought I would puke.) Then I got back home and did shit: 3 sets of 10 calf raises for each leg, 20 burpees (my new favourite exercise next to running) 4 sets of 25 crunches, and some yogaish stretching. Feeling good and ready to get at it.

    You need to add some kettlebell work in with those burpees. Swings and burpeess make for a nice pull-push combo -- especially if you add a push up to the burpee.

    I thought a pushup was a standard part of the burpee...I have so little knowledge of this kind of thing it is embarrassing. Will consider the kettle ball.

    I think yoga is supposed to have some sort of routine flow and you are supposed to concentrate on your breathing and center yourself. I don't do that. I pick the moves that I like and that I think will stretch out what I want stretched out and I just do those.
