    good Uhm, I ran. I RAN!!! 5 mi 00:44 08:51 pace

Didn't get any pain until the last few meters. Kept a really really controlled pace -- slow, easy, paying strict attention to form. I miss speed, just in general, it's been a while since ... read more

Say what you will about the PTs and their advice - you clearly needed this ride. And the approval of virtual MWK.. You are having a lot of tough issues right now but all things considered you are managing this really well. Awesome ride!

Well, it seems you're going to pull a Lipschultz IMTX. I had all kinds of knee issues going into that one. Longest run in training was 13 miles or so. My buddy was super worried about me doing the IM with that "lack" of training. But as the story goes, I gutted it out, with huge blister on left foot and the hail storm and finished my first ever. Whatever it is, it is (with regards to training). Take what you've got and give it all you have. Your tenacity will carry you the rest of the way

@Jeff. Yup. I think 16 was my longest at Lou last year. I have managed several mid-longies for this training.... 15, 16, 18. I was hoping for a 20 this weekend. We will see. If I can't do it, I can't do it. Can't do what you can't do.

I hope so, too. Not an expert, but one would think it would be a constant pain if its a stress fracture. Even walking.

Just remember, everything is connected. A problem in one place manifests itself in other places. Hard to pin down the issue for us non-medical types, right? For now, no speculation. Wait and see.

You are fast. The kid was right. And yes, for some dudes, it is really hard being chicked. They have to see if they were just backing off at the time and you were just pushing to pass them. Their ego can't help it. What they should do is watch you pass and wait and watch. If you slow down, it assures them you (or anyone) was just messing with them. THEN they are safe to pass if they can hold a higher pace all the way back up to you. I would do the same male or female.

As a man, I almost never have this happen to me. I would say you are on to something. I don't think that most men are this way, but unfortunately the pigs are the ones who are the most obnoxious and that the ones you notice.

@Jeff That's exactly it, Jeff! Or, like the kid said -- see if you can pace behind me, I'm none the wiser. It was about my pace, not about my gender, or some ego trip for him. People can be silly. @Chris -- glad you weighed in, that was my assumption. Jason said the same thing, never happens to him either.

Dustin, need to do it DURING season to avoid getting too beat up. When you're a little older you won't get away with it.

I don't start adding programming mid season though, fine line of stress! Start it in the off season then continue it mid season is more optimal imo :p
