  1. RUN
    Pup run 3 mi

Another 3 miler, the weather is really perking up! Oh, hello milder temperatures. My hair might still be a wet mop, but freedom from humidity is nigh.

  2. RUN
    Pup run walk 3 mi

Still taking the dog out, but doing some small walking sections to give his body a rest. We'll have a cold front coming through, and I expect he'll be game for a full run when it does!

  3. VELO
TT bike with the man 45 mi 02:31 17.9mph pace

Felt really off on this ride, sore after too -- wasn't even sore for the 60+ mile gravel ride on a brand new bike. Odd.

  4. VELO
    Gravel 60.34 mi 04:29 13.5mph pace

This wasn't the ride I expected, but it's okay. Super easy ride for sure, despite 4000 feet of gravel climbing; 2 hours of total stop and regroup time on my watch. The bike feels really g... read more

alright New gravel bike 33 mi 02:04 16.0mph pace

This is a new gravel bike. Remember how I was saying my gravel bike didn't feel right? Well, it wasn't. The great people at my LBS agreed to check me out on the bike, and address whatever... read more

How exciting is that? Very cool. Just be careful--friend of mine crashed and wrecked her IM training for a long time.

I was a mountain biker before I was anything else, I think the learned bike handling helps a ton on gravel. The only fall I've had on gravel to date was a dog that ran out into me. The gravel gang that I ride with has a few loose cannons that fall a lot more than they should, like often even. I tend to think it's a matter of fitness outpacing skill.

Had no idea there was such a thing as gravel biking. Definitely important to have a good fitting bike no matter what.

Mike, I had a pro fit done, too, by a group in their shop. I think he knew it then but for the sake of not getting the guy who sold me the bike in hot water, the fitter didn’t speak up. These are all nice guys. It was not ill intentioned & they made it right. Alls well that ends well.

great quick monday miles 17 mi 01:03 16.3mph pace

Ride with the man before work. He's on staycation today, it was nice of him to rise early with me and squeeze this in.

alright Gravel GRINDing 32.16 mi 02:15 14.3mph pace

So between me and my ride buddy, we think my fit is definitely off (and yes, I did have it professionally done). I have some work to do to correct it and will coordinate with somebody new to help g... read more

  8. RUN
    blah Pup run 3 mi

It was really humid, but just cool enough to take the pup. I think this is close to his limit, though, so I took it easy on him. First run since coming back, legs were lighter than expected.

  9. VELO
blah Gravel bike experimentation 15.61 mi 01:03 14.9mph pace

Garmin didn't pick up the first mile on mileage, but the clock ran ... so I added the mile in. But something about this mileage still seems off. I'm usually closer to 17 on this route. An... read more

ohgeez. OUCH. That sounds awful. I hope she'll be okay. That's as lot of car time. That sounds awful too. Sorry you had to miss a race, but it's true, family.

She'll be okay. At least 5 more weeks there before she's considered for release. I may have to travel back to make her home acceptable for returning. I'll fly next time ;-)

great Pup free (sad face) 3.3 mi

Okay, this wasn't great. I felt fine, but the pup couldn't hang. Dew points near or over 70 are considered "tropical" and ours was 70-something this morning. He was being pulled... read more

    alright Trainer workout 01:00

Boring. But it past the time.

    Low cadence grind
    High cadence speed rest

    Repeat 5x I think? More? Can’t remember

    good Quickie 17.1 mi 01:01 16.8mph pace

This loop is good and bad. It's through neighborhoods that are hilly, so it's constant up and down, turn around. It really slows the ride down. And for a triathlete, it means there are few sections where you can be down in the bars for any meaningful length of time. But, on the plus side, it's a good workout and the constant changes in direction and elevation really pass the time nicely.
