good Riverwalk (Flooded) South 9.42 mi 01:21 08:33 pace

Part two of an 18 mile training run. After linking up with the CRR's and establishing that there was some flooding, the water drop was still in place and that we would have to go through the neighborhoods to get our run in, we moved out and talked about everything going on. Some were going to stick to 18 and a few were planning on upping it to 20 miles. I gave the legs a break, dialing it down from the last miles I'd done at fast pace. After I felt better, I went ahead with Randy for about a mile. We had hung together last week for the whole run. After that, I moved out with the lead runners and navigated through the neighborhoods. Again, I ran into the group of long distance runners who had hit their turn around and traded a few hellos.
At mile 6.3, we got back to the first gate to the Riverwalk. I waited for Randy again and told him where the water drop was hidden. We talked about where 9 miles would be at and in a moment of confusion on my part, the gat to Fort Benning was mentioned. I replied that would be just over 9 miles. I was thinking the gate by the Infantry Museum when the gate was one a bit farther. Then I went back to the last turn and waited 5 minutes for the rest of the groups. I did not know if they would divert and head off somewhere else, or come down this way. I felt bad that the groups had split like this and felt responsible.
After no contact in 5 minutes, I headed out and as I thought about my last words with Randy, realized that he may be headed for almost 10 miles out. I tried to turn on the afterbunners to catch him, but there was no way I was going to make up 5 minutes. I found a good land mark at mile 9 then ran on to meet Randy as he was coming back.
I asked, " How are you feeling?" and he responded good and that he felt a lot better than he had felt at this point last week. I let him know he should be proud as he had gone farther and would have almost 20 logged at the end of this run. We parted ways as I had to get to the house.
