good FB ATM Tryout - Sand Hill 15.33 mi 01:57 07:39 pace

My "last" long hill run. This would be a taper week for me before the Snickers Marathon. I was motivated by so many friends running great races today, that I decided on a tough 15 that would include a lot of hills including the Fort Benning Army Ten-Miler try-out course.
Took it pretty quickly up to the 10 miler start, and then realized I had been nailing down sub 7:30 miles ... for a warm up! Felling good, I turned it up a notch and worked at better than half marathon pace for the next five miles. I just kept working on my running form and that helped keep the speed up.
At the turn around, I found myself going into the wind. I could really feel it pushing on me, even as I worked to keep my form and stay in the fight. I could see my average pace slowly increasing by every 1/2 mile. I fought to keep each mile under an 8 min pace until I got to 13.1 miles (1:38 ish).
I then kept going to get home hitting the last of the hills, and feeling my tank drop down to empty at around 14 miles. After the last hill, I got going enough to cruise through my neighborhood.
The legs feel tight, but I have a week to recover and get them ready to 1) stuff them into an aircraft Friday heading overseas, or 2) stuff them into the car and head on down to ... ??? ... my "last" vacation! More to follow.
