This snake was on the bike course of today's triathlon in Marble Falls, Texas. When first spotted, he raised his head then opened his mouth. By the time I grabbed my phone to take a photo, he had begun his slithering departure.

There is a long story behind why I stopped to take this picture. It has to do with my co-workers who thought it was a great idea to frighten this city kid, who hadn't thought about snakes being a part of the triathlon. Let's just say they jinxed me. But I stayed on my bike...I just slowed down.
