  1. RUN
alright Humboldt Park 2.58 mi 00:23 08:54 pace

Summer is here! I forgot how inspiring it is to run in the sun but how hard it is to run in the heat. I had a long day yesterday and I was dragging. I was out of energy and lacked spring because I ... read more

  4. RUN
blah Humboldt Park 2.8 mi 00:26 09:11 pace

Easy pace to loosen up. It dropped down to 60's—perfect warm sun and cold shade. The wind seemed to be against me the whole way but I was sluggish as all hell. Right leg felt all sorts of shitty. A... read more

That's good advice. I am taking a day or two off until my leg feels good before heading out again. Feels pretty good this AM. Achilles is a little sore. Goodness knows what I did to this calf. The good news is that the 6 weeks seemed to cure the main issue. That was a very long 6 weeks I can tell you.

Thanks everyone. This is what I miss about DM when I have no miles to log! I'm going to get my mother to bring home some of the topical schizzle when she comes next month.

Trial run to see how my calf is doing. Not happy with it. Feels like a sore knot in it.

great Canal in Cwbran, Wales 3 mi

Went for a pre-wedding run with my younger brother Miles (the groom) and my 14 year old nephew. We ran along the old canal in Cwmbran. It was awesome. I'd love to run it all one day.

  9. Yes, I am still injured. Hope you are all healthy and well. This Sponsor The Fool post is late coming. It's my long weekend to Starved Rock.

It sounds like you want to choose A, as you already know the smarter move! I say you choose A... as long as you don't overdo it and it and make it far worse.

Anyway, I say RUN!... but when you get back home set yourself up with an active healing routine of some sort because it'll probably be messed up even more.

You can always tell who is in good running shape when they say things like "2 easy miles" and have a sub-9:00 minute pace!

If you go back 2 years ago, it would have been in the 12's :) Pace is all relative and my treadmill pace is much harder to do in real life.

That is a good pace. I quite fancy a set of sleeves. What are the benefits? Any Sponsor the Fool updates?!

    • Simon G.

Thanks MIles. I have been working a lot, so no time for the blog. A publisher sent me a book about running and meditation to review, so I'll get on that. We are also going to Starved Rock National Park for a long weekend, so I can share my trail runs there. As for the sleeves, it basically improves circulation and blood flow. I find them great for sore leg recover post run. The only time I run in them is if it is a very long run for me. Some people like to run in them all the time. Whatever works I guess.

Several weeks ago, my shin splints felt so much better and I ran 5 days that week. Big mistake. Too much, too soon. It set me back a week ... maybe even 2. It's been 5-1/2 weeks for me (4-1/2 if you count that set-back where I practically started over with recovering). I needed to read your post because I've been fighting with myself all day that "I will NOT run this evening when I go to the gym". Hope you're feeling better soon! (Have you tried KT Tape?)
