Do you happen to have a 405? There was a bad firmware update (2.7) that caused battery problems, firmware 2.8 was released to fix it but some users (I was one) did not have it resolved. Doing a reset is one of the fixes. I found some discussion on the Garmin boards. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=21566 Here is a link to the 2.8 update: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3911

The readout on the bike at my gym is always very flattering with my distance/pace as well. I'm probably in for a rude awakening when I ride a real bike again. Still, my pace is usually around 21 mph on the gym bike, so assuming the bikes lie similarly, I'm impressed. Nice work!

Those are some tough hills, ascending and descending. Rarely make it down without a spill. The only one even more insane is the one at Devil's lake (east shore trail?), which they no longer groom.
