That's great. I wonder if there is a tire dragging race somewhere.

Alan, not sure. I'm technically training to drag a sled during a race, but the snow isn't agreeable to that here right now & I need to train for hills anyway so this works when I'm stuck on the flats. There is a group of ppl that drag tires for various causes.

Sole: I drilled (using carbide bit because of the metal radial) a hole to fit the eye-hook into. Then used a big bolt & a washer on either side of the hole to help keep it in place. I attach the rope to the eye-hook via a carabiner clip like you would use for climbing. Harness/belt combo was found in the hunting department for $10, it's for dragging deer. Rope is just nylon & about 8ft long. If I'm moving fast enough the tire bounces on pavement (planning to weight it.), but not grass or gravel. HTH!

Nice running with a group again. Good company. Lots going on this week and I focused more on strength so quads were a little sore, but the run felt decent. Looking fwd to more miles this week!

This is super awesome. I've just started doing this type of strength training myself, and it's quite addictive. Feels so much less like work(ing out) and more like play to me. What's Arrowhead?
11 days ago • Like

Chris, I see it as play too! Arrowhead is a 135mile self-supported (you pull all of your gear in a sled) ultramarathon held during the coldest part of winter. It's not uncommon for race temperatures to be -20 during the day & down to -40 at night. Yesterday I was offered an apprenticeship (including race-day gear) under someone who has competed in it for 4 years. So, if my ultra season goes well this year w/o issue or substantial injury, I will be there.

Ive ran in blizzards and hunted off the ground/treestand in very bitter cold temps -50 + windchill and colder. Its actually tougher than running in it because your not moving. Cold weather running for me in general though is not that enjoyable all the layers, restricted movement, etc.. i like the Colorado scene though mountains, snow, but temps that stay reasonable :)

I really love running in the cold and nasty stuff. It seems that the colder and stormier it gets the more I want to be outside. I've been like that ever since I was a kid. I think the coldest I've run in was about -20 with a windchill approaching -50. Loved every mile!!!

I like cheddar cheese, nut goodie bars, pretzels, coke, bagels, etc.. Ive experimented with a few different foods on long runs with pretty good results. Ive even had a few slices of pepperoni pizza, and one time a big chicken leg. Anxious to try some others in training this winter/spring.
