    I would just run without the garmin enjoy yourself and just run the Best that you can ! GOOD LUCK !!!

    I usually wear my GARMIN and try to pace myself according to the pace I run at..I've also ran with a pace group and have found that VERY helpful cos I tend to run faster and I don't realize it..they will reign you in and help you keep up..most of all run your own race, your own pace and enjoy every minute :) you will be great!

    I've done a lot of races now and for me it all depends on how I feel on race day. If my legs feel good and my breathing is good, then I can push it hard. It's all about effort level and not pace. If you normally run at an 8:00/mi but on any given day it feels harder than usual, then you should just run at an effort you feel like you can complete the distance with. Using the heart rate monitor during training can help you figure out your high-end aerobic zone, usually your target effort.

    I would run with my garmin but without the Virtual partner, and just go by feel. Having fun is priority One! :D
