    alright Quicky workout 2 mi 00:20 10:00 pace

    I had about 40 minutes after work to fit my workout in. I did 2 miles on the treadmill - first run since the race! Felt ok, but the IT was a bit sore. Finished with 20 minutes of strength training.

      I'm so glad you finally wrote this up! You had a tough training cycle this time around and I understand completely what you are saying about desire - if you don't want it, it basically won't happen!! Mental outlook on marathon training is such a huge part of it!! You can't force it if want and the love isn't there. So glad to hear your tendon was okay through this! Starting off a marathon and knowing it's going to be a tough run day is an awful feeling but you gutted this out! I am so glad

      a spring half! 13.1 is such a wonderful distance! Take a little time off and get yourself healed up and hopefully soon that desire will come back for your next training cycle! Until then, be proud of that medal and congrats on another 26.2!!

      Congrats!! Sorry to hear it was a push to get through it, but regardless of your time (which is nothing to sneeze at!) it's always a big accomplishment. I hope you enjoyed the grandiosity of the Chicago marathon, it's truly something special! Enjoy the rest of your time there! Congrats to Joe as well, and awesome that your parents got to be there.

      I would be bumming hard too right now! You put in so many miles and for your shin to be achy - that sucks! And a sniffle!! No!! Definitely a bonus for you will be the lower elevation though. Should makes your miles feel easier! You've got this =]

      Sorry I haven't commented lately - I saw you were still having shin problems. Sounds positive...but yes careful about speed work or running on hard surfaces - keep off tarmac if you can until your race.

    Pain in my shin is still there today but not quite as bad as yesterday. I did these easy 5 on the TM and finished with a good stretching session!

      Thanks everyone! @Rebecca I don't remember you saying that, but it might have been a smarter idea than trying to train through all my vacations and injuries, haha! I definitely didn't train as well as I did last year, but I'm hitting faster paces for speedwork, so maybe that will make up some of the difference? Either way, I intend to enjoy Chicago no matter how it goes!
