Longest run for me in over a decade. I found an enjoyable pace and just kept plugging. At the end I felt I could go another mile or so. Nice course.

RUN
good East Montgomery Elementary 2.5 mi 00:30 12:00 pace
Well, my Garmin Forerunner stopped just past 17 minutes so I'm swagging the time. I ran a slower pace. Even at 6 pm it was a hot one.

RUN
good Beachaven 2.44 mi 00:30 12:04 pace
Finally completed a nonstop run. Weather was perfect. Averaged just over an 11 minute mile. Not bad considering I'd not exercised at all for almost two weeks. Thanks, Erika, for the phone call... read more

RUN
good Austin Peay State University 2.14 mi 00:30 14:02 pace
Cool at 60 degrees. Started with a stubborn headache which eased after about 10 minutes. Kept a conversational pace instead of pushing for time. I was a bad boy last week during my travels as I did... read more

Cold day after the rain. Had a hard time stretching and began my brisk walk stiff. Never really got totally loosened up. At the end one of the mentors suggested I was pushing too hard (which I was). She encouraged me to keep my jog to a conversational pace (which I wasn't). So expect my future runs to be around a 12:30 pace (running portion). Thanks everyone for the tips and encouragement today!

Yes, I pushed lap each time we transitioned but after uploading I found that it actually put each lap in a separate folder. Couldn't see the whole run start to finish. I think I'll start it after the 5 min. warm up walk and just let it run to the end. p.s. Donna wants me to do a 4-to-1 ratio for my workouts. That might just get me in an even conversational pace. As it is, it's more like sprint work.

Also, I'll be traveling between May 5-13. I'll should be back for the Saturday run on the 14th (unless my friends talk me in to staying longer!).

RUN
1.73 mi 00:22 12:24 pace
Got it! This is my first run with the Garmin Forerunner 305 ($128 at Amazon.com!). As soon as I plugged in the USB cable the details of this morning's run appeared on my computer screen! Then... read more

The Garmin will change your life. It did miine. :-) You were running at a great pace during the running portions. At any point, if you feel like jumping ahead to like a 3:1 ratio, I think you'd be fine.

Yes, Scott. I think you are ready to move on up. If you warm up, run for 3 minutes at a fairly RELAXED pace, then walk 1 minute for 20 minutes, I think you'll like it. Or with your Garmin, you could run 1/4 mile, walk a minute, repeat. It really opens up some options for you where you can choose a distance rather than time. I know the training plan starts 1/4 and 1/2 mile intervals the week of May 9.

Okay, I'll try the 1/4 mile intervals tonight. The relaxed pace is difficult for me as I feel I can do more. Then I regret doing more! Developing patience.

What's real nice is that my new shoes still have that new-shoe smell after today's run! Do they make a spray to keep that new-shoe smell???

Now that you mention it, I think you should smell your shoes every day. Or every other day.

Yep, UPS delivered my Garmin GPS Forerunner 305 Heart Rate Monitor about an hour before tonight's run. The only problem is it must charge for three hours!
