  1. Quad Cities Tri today in Iowa. World Champ Qualifier. Hot, humid, hard race with serious jocks in my age group. But still came in top 10 and qualified for Hungary in Sept. 600 yd swim - 13 mins; T1... read more

  2. Taper, taper, taper.....but somehow a race pace 30 min bike (with intervals; a 10 min run at 8 min/mile and a race pace 400 yd swim doesn't feel like taper....

  3. RUN
    good Treadmill 2.5 mi 00:25 10:00 pace

A deliberately moderate-paced run after the bike. Thought this was meant to be a taper, Lou??!! Feel really comfortable cycling and running without socks and saves about 30 secs in transition battl... read more

  4. VELO
good Indoor race pace 8 mi 00:30 16.0mph pace

Felt good but overall feeling tired. Lack of sleep.

  5. swim
good Sprint drills 600 yd 00:20 58:40 pace

Starting to taper down and I feel my body needs it. 3 x 200 yd above race pace. Then 20 minute high cadence bike indoors.

  6. swim
Part of run brick 600 yd 00:11:00 32:15 pace

My arms feel strangely weary after the run.

  7. RUN
good 2 mile road plus 1.8 mile tra... 3.8 mi 00:35 09:12 pace

Still need to get over the psychology of not being able to get a consistent pace in trail runnng

  8. swim
    alright 600 yd 00:10:55 32:01 pace

Finish of brick. Absolutely knackered though as didn't sleep last night.

  9. VELO
    good Lakeshore loop x 3 21 mi 01:26 14.7mph pace

Very early morning; freezing; but last chance to ride properly before bike packed and shipped. Linked with a swim brick

  10. RUN
Treadmill straight after swim. 1.2 mi 00:10:00 08:20 pace

Enjoying the bricks. Not looking forward to starting the taper though - will be very frustrating. 8 days to race day....

Keep your focus and remember to rest prior to race day. More is better marathoners say...

Sprint drills of 4x100 and 4x50 half way through. In wetsuit. Felt brilliant!

  12. FIT
    01:00

    Weights and core

  13. RUN
    Triple brick 2.1 mi 00:20 09:31 pace

Easy treadmill run but overall felt great.

  14. VELO
Triple brick - high cadence 5 mi 00:20 15.0mph pace

Got strange looks from others in the gym as I had my Tri suit on and was dripping from the pool...(but I did sit on a towel!)

  15. swim
    Triple brick 600 yd 00:10:45 31:32 pace

Thrilled at this time. Race pace with wetsuit. Have now knocked off 2 minutes in the last week of swim training. If I could do this time in 2 weeks today I'd be a very, very happy bunny.

  16. RUN
Lakeshore and trail 3.1 mi 00:28 09:01 pace

The trail running really screws up my focus and rhythm. Have to get thru it tho.

  17. swim
    great Brick - race pace 600 yards 600 yd 00:11:59 35:09 pace

After an hour of heavy weights and core, straight into a 600 yard race pace swim without wetsuit. Matched the "with" wetsuit time yesterday, so really happy. Then cycled straight from poo... read more

    2,600 yd drills incl PB 600 y... 2600 yd 01:00 40:36 pace

Really excited. 600 yds in 11:58. Knocked another 70 secs off PB. One key difference was swimming in my race wet suit. Zzzzooooommm! Just over two weeks to go.

I got my suit on the way. I wanna feel the difference I need to get faster in the water

Great! Also get really used to getting the suit off quickly when wet. Use either easy glide around the legs or something like a light sesame oil (which I use). Also an obvious hint - never put moisturizer / sunscreen on your face at the start of a race - screws up the seal on your goggles. (I learned the hard way...)! Was going to ride to Mount Rose summit this morning but raining - so a wet run instead. Have a great day.

  19. RUN
    good 3.8 mi 00:32 08:25 pace

Really happy. 2 miles road; 1.8 miles trail. The time is a PB and would be 26:00 at race distance of 3.1 miles.
