After a couple of rough nights of sleep with Liv, I wasn't so sure I wanted to do this run this morning but I'm so glad I did. Long run pace, ave heart rate of 138, so maintained Zone 2. Warm and s... read more

good Fartlek workout 7 km 01:00 13:47 pace

After warm up and drills, the core of this waterfront workout was a circuit of fast-slow intervals of various unknown lengths on a random schedule, for 19 minutes. Every time the whistle blew, we s... read more

great Time dilated spin class 00:45

I've noticed this time dilation effect before. As my long runs increase in time, other exercise I do appears 'shorter'. This spin class whizzed by (excuse the pun).

  4. RUN
great SLOW long distance run 16 km 01:53 11:20 pace

Really slow, and solely determined by heart rate limit of 140, which should be the edge of my aerobic zone. Apart from the 500m where I got buzzed by seagulls. Had to run a little faster then :)

blah Hill repeats: bonked 7 km 01:00 13:47 pace

6 x hill repeats of 30 seconds run with recovery walk down was all it took to make me bonk. I was seriously shredded. In the 3 x undulating trail 600m to follow, I felt just awful on the first lap,... read more

Ooo ouch! Give yourself some time Sarb and don't be too hard on yourself. Perhaps a few more easy miles in the bank first might be a kinder approach to your body :)

Take it easy and then ease back into it. Hill repeats are deceptively hard but you can reap rewards in the long term:) Hope you feel better after the rest day.

Thanks, Nic. I'm sure they will. I tend to see a lag of about 3 weeks, but I haven't extended long runs at the same time as a training cycle of speed work. So, will be curious to see how my body responds. Sure, will do when it come to that long run :)

  9. I was going to circuit train today, but I think I'd be better off using a recovery day. Haven't run like yesterday's workout for a while, and although my legs don't feel too bad they don't feel fresh.

Km ticker on my gps shows I was running at around 4.18m/km pace, and final 800m at sub 4m/km pace. Interesting to see how this progresses. My legs felt like lead at points.

I've always done it slowly in classes in London. Seems to be done fast in the two classes I've had here. Hmmm. Not so sure.
