Day 63 half training: Started out around 10 am this morning.. It was only 75 degrees (nice!) when we took off (it was 85 degrees when we got home) but it rained a ton last night so the humidity was crazy high (boo!). I was shooting for 10 miles again, but cut it short because I had hit a wall and was doing mostly walking. 10 miles is proving to be a difficult distance for me to break. Any tips for getting that extra mile?

Tomorrow is The Color Run, and I'm SUPER excited! Should be a fun time!

    That could very well be it... I had 2 gels w/ me (Carb Boom brand) and tried to take them at 5 miles... They were the worst things I've ever tasted tho! Couldn't get them down.

    I'm with HB on the fuel. Maybe make sure you eat a little something before running, then fuel about 5 miles in. People get awfully creative about what they eat, but the chewy bites (like gu chomps) and jelly belly beans are pretty good. Good luck - and enjoy the color run!

    Great work getting these miles done! I think 10 might be easier without the humidity. I can't stand the gels. :c/

    Can't wait to heat about the color run! I wanted to do it when it was in Atlanta, but I was in a wedding that evening. I didn't want to chance being painted at the wedding. Have fun!

    I, too, hate the gels! Love the gu chomps though! Do you run alone or with a friend? If alone, see if you can find someone to run with. Sometimes our minds let us quit well before our body needs to. It just might be a mental block. A friend sometimes can push you through it. Have fun on the color run! I have one in August!

    I agree with fuel, and also with Wendy that it could be a mental block and having a friend there. You may also try breaking that last mile into walk/run intervals ... and then the following week decrease the walk and increase the run. Good job getting 9 done!
