You should do the Great Lakes Relay with the track club's team next year...I'm hoping to do it (kind of pricey...total's out to ~$200-250 per person though)...it's a 3 day relay across the state of Michigan...Lake Huron to Lake Michigan, Friday morning to Sunday afternoon...10 person team and toooonnnnssss of fun. Trying to coordinate 3 cars to relay exchanges is pretty amazing too... sounds similar to Ragnar (except Ragnar is a big series)...

Yeah, warm ups and cool downs do get important in those multi day relay races...just a super slow mile to get things circulating again...and the food is definitely a trying experience when you run multiple times a day (and sitting in the heat....)

How horrible that people would do that to runners during the night :-( I am glad you were okay and made it through your night run! So sorry your IT band acted up. That would be hard to sit so much and then get out and run!

I am like Rebecca, I would be lost somewhere and probably not anywhere near I am supposed to be. Yes, I am that bad at reading maps! Nice Job :-)

Sorry to read the "coach" is not really so much. But I didn't realize you were a "big sister" role and that is very cool! I'm sure it means a ton for a kid to have an adult to run with! It sounds like you'll have a very exciting time!

When I signed up and went to the trainings, it was pretty clear that you don't need to be a runner to be a coach. I think it helps if you are, but I think if you can really relate to the girls and talk to them about their issues and struggles, that's the most important thing. But man, some of those kids ARE fast! We had a few 7th graders I couldn't keep up with :)

If the program need any extra mentors or running buddies in the future, I'd love to help! I just didn't have time to coach this year.

I can see your daughter saying that, Anna! :) Shannon, this is the Toledo chapter that I'm helping with right now (helping out a former Toledo training friend). I'll probably help out with the Ann Arbor chapter in the future now that I'm living up here.

I didn't realize the water stop was at your house, Anna! I'm so unobservant! We did get lost in the few miles before it though. We backtracked to get back on the route since we didn't want to miss the 2nd water stop, so we were glad to have found it :)
