RUN
alright 4.16 mi 00:52 12:29 pace
First 4 mile attempt.
The good? Ran the whole time.
The bad? Slow as hell. Legs were really tight (probably from yesterday's awesome run), took 2 miles to even loosen them up. Around 3.25 g... read more

RUN
great 3.09 mi 00:36 11:33 pace
My best run yet!
I have my app tell me my 1/2 mile splits. I'll likely change it to 1 mile splits at some point, but I like this for now. It's helpful to me. I decided at 1.5 miles that... read more

RUN
alright 1.93 mi 00:22 11:25 pace
Mind games. Sucks feeling so great after a run yesterday and needing a walk break during a less than two mile run today.
I just hurt today. Need to do some foam rolling, I think.

RUN
great 3.03 mi 00:37 12:09 pace
Was getting frustrated with the walk/run plan but not ready to commit to Hal Higdon's plan since it ends at 10 miles and I don't think adrenaline would carry me those last 3 miles.

The Color Run 5K.
Ran the whole time aside from walking through the color zones. This just shows how much better I do when I'm with other people. That pace is GREAT for me!

Nice Job:
Way to go! This isn't small for most people. 2 miles is far. Ever take note of it while you're driving on 271? Seriously. Nice work. :)

RUN
great 2 mi
No phone or music. Just went out and ran with the kids in the stroller. Ran the whole time! Though I did have 2 short stops to give the kids crackers.
First time running on National Running Day.

Nicely done. It feels good when you hit the "first time running straight through" goal. And impressive work running with two kids in a jogger!!

Ok, so I'm just slow. But I'm doing it.
Also, not a fan of running in 90% humidity. Damn.

I hate that you worry about your pace so much. The important thing is that you're doing it. You should be proud.

Need recommendations. For now I take water with me on my runs. Anyone like a certain handheld bottle/carrier for running?
-
I just picked up a FuelBelt CHEAP at Marshall's... I looked to see if there were anymore but there weren't (at Golden Gate). It's a one bottle in the back belt and I'm not sure if I LOVE it, but for $10 I couldn't pass it up! You might want to check the TJMAXX and Marshall's by you.

Sara, I have a Nathan hand carrier (which is nice, you can put your phone/key in it) and an Amphipod water belt. I guess it depends on the distance you're going but both have +'s and -'s. For any distance over 10, I'd def get a belt. I like my Amphipod, it just takes a few min to get it adjusted (which I do while running b/c that's when you see where it's comfy and not bouncy).

Hi Sara. I would just focus on drinking throughout the day. I drink throughout the day and always have water with me when I go to bed. I also drink a small glass (8-16 oz before I leave regardless of the distance). If I am just running easy miles (up to 90 minutes), I don't eat anything before I run. If I am running a quality workout, I eat a little (banana with pb or toast with pb) about 30 minutes before I leave. Experiment and see what works best for you! Good luck!

I usually get up a half hour before I start to run. I'll drink a glass of water and have a couple Gatorade chews, Clif shot bloks, Honey Stinger waffle, etc - about 100 calories worth. I need a little something to get going - I can't go totally empty. If I have more than a half hour before I need to head out, I'll have a cup of coffee too.

Beer before bed and then one upon waking, then run. Oh, ok, just kidding. Above posters gave great advice re: water, and what they eat is exactly what I like to eat (toast, banana, etc). Also like them, I only really eat if I'm going out for longer than an hour. But everyone is different. Gotta find what works best for your body. :)
