Finally wearing the weight vest. Between packing boxes, cleaning house and perhaps even running.. it should serve me well.

greatLoads of fun 5k 3.1 mi 00:26 08:13 pace
Daily mile friends have been very busy for the last two weeks.. Running consistently, and running fast. Inspired me to get my behind back in the game.
Got to the race 8 minutes before it was set to start. Luckily, I wasn't the only one who slept in,... read more

Thanks everyone. You're right Joyce. I'm going to have to scope her out at a future race and apologize when she's in a better space. She was working very hard at the end.. I can see why she was upset.

i don't think it was pain...it was her ego that couldn't accept the apology..great job Saks!

Why do you run ultra-runs? I read up about comrades that passes through my hometown (Capetown, South Africa) and am wondering what is the incentive for that kind of perseverance, patience, and well, punishment to run 90km?
-
The challenge Lady Saks is the kind of experience few can speak of.

After the last long run I did, I learned 2 things. One, my Garmin has enough juice for a 12 hr run and two, it amazing how your body can push through the pain and keep on going. You are right Saks about being concerned about your body. I literally couldn't run for 1.5 weeks. I injured my ankle and its still not 100% better. These ultra's really can cause havok to the body.

Yes.. you are definitely a trooper Stanley. Saw some of your battle wounds. I take my hat off to that kind of dedication.. Now if only I can get back to running even 6 miles. My body is being very stubborn.

tiredRace 3.1 mi 00:24 07:40 pace
Got 4th AG, 13th woman. Need to speed it up. The women in the next age-group are way speedier, around 18:00 5k's.

Great time! What is your age group?

That's a pretty fast pace Zaks, don't knock it too much!
Lol! sorry, didn't mean to knock the pace.. I've just been struggling to get under 22 minutes for about 8 months now. I get close, and then further away.. but I shouldn't be complaining because I haven't been training ...

Thank you Becky and Wiiqi for motivating me to come back. I am a wimp about getting injured and since I've been doing 'all' running on the mill, I got a little bit of a shock when I raced on asphalt on my last 5k. It was slow and real painful afterward, felt like I ran a marathon. I feel fine now, just need a new plan before I start up again.

Great job Saks! The weather here has been brutal but you've gotta train and take what you can get. I'm training for the Air Force Marathon in OH (Sep) so I'm hoping for much cooler temps. Keep up the good work! Loooookin' good!

You're doing great in training for your 5K goal--you're already doing it in under 23 w/o a race. Have you accomplished your 22 min 5K race yet? Hang in there. If every day was easy--what would make them special?

Sporadic...probably spend too much time on bike and swims. Not too good with sticking to a type of schedule, and not too sure on what would make me faster....do you have a plan you follow?
I'm pretty sporadic myself, but all I do is run on my treadmill.. Haven't figured out how to do anything else around my Mommy duties. You're fine, maybe when you do your walks and you feel an urge for speed you can speed up for a minute and run as fast as you can and then go back to walking. That's how I do it. I've gotten my time down to 23:00 that way.

greatBonus Miles 7 mi 01:08 09:42 pace
Did 7 miles more than I wanted to today. Nice recovery though, now that it's over.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to do two short runs at a faster pace.

Got lucky: Ordered Roger Bannister's book from Amazon, used, and it just happened to be autographed by the man himself! I think it's a sign that I should stick to running - jk.

Great score Saks!
