Finally ran the half marathon route for a local race. Haven't done the race, maybe next year. Temps were perfect at the start 70 with 46% humidity. Of course I didn't start this run until 12:15. Perfect day, not a cloud in the sky - just wanted to get out and enjoy it and keep on running. Felt really good on this until miles 10-11, then I was starting to feel it and just wanted to be done. I was running low on water by then and what I had was warm. Didn't go through much the first half. Stopped to refill water and use the biffy. Second half was warmer, and less shade so I drank more. Also had my stingers at mile 6 and 9. Got a little lost on mile 3 and took a detour through some woods on some trails with tricky footing, retraced my steps out of that and found the right path to take me where I wanted to go. The last mile was really a cool-down. And I was running part of it with a dog that didn't really want to run. Goal was to see where I was at and how I would feel about doubling this distance. I am happy with my splits. 9:43, 9:54, 11:13, 10:32, 10:28, 10:09, 10:17, 10:23, 10:15, 10:20, 10:17, 10:56!
