Yeah, I totally underestimated how hard this race was actually going to be. I was told that the course was 'relatively flat' with one small incline. I don't think so! A good portion of the course was a bunch of rolling hills and that small incline..was about about mile 13. And notice the total distance, they said it was going to be about 13.3, but I almost ran a whole half mile more than a traditional half. But all in all, it was a nice trail run, started off too fast per my M.O. Small race too (250), compared to the thousands running La Jolla half, which I ran last year. Happy Sunday!

I doubt there was more than one flat mile on this course. sheesh. Those tight out and back parts near the turn around were dicey too! i almost ran smack into one guy. I have to admit I felt more accomplished than normal once this half was over.. but I didn't feel like I was mentally prepared for such a rough course!

Great performance especially for a hilly trail run - congrats! Hope it was fun and not too hot! One of my Ragnar teammates did this too.
