RUN
tired 4 mi 00:45 11:14 pace
trying hard not to be discouraged after today's run
-
don't be discouraged! it's okay to have a difficult day {or week, or month, or even {yikes!} year} out there. even the elites do! tomorrow's another chance for a better run. personally, it's the bad runs that push me to want to be a better runner. "what's going on here? why do i feel this way?" i ask myself. usually it's just a matter of tweaking something in my training a little bit. if it was easy all the time i wouldn't grow as a runner. your 4 miles today is AWESOME ruthanne! :)

thanks, tamara. i've been having hip pain in my left hip ever since my long run on friday. i'm thinking now i've run too much in my new shoes and should have broken them in slower . . . . i'm going to take my asics back out for my 3 mile run tomorrow and see how i feel.

RUN
good 4 mi 00:42 10:32 pace
tried running with music today and my pace felt off the whole time. ick. other than that, it was a great run on a beautiful day!
-
i am the biggest klutz when i try to run with music. it just doesn't work for me and my pace is always all over the place...i never relax into the run and it seems to take so much work...trying to catch up {or slow down} to the beat!

these long slow runs are torture in my book....but necessary. you're teaching your body different things with the long/slow run as opposed to the short/fast run...and you're going to draw strength from both types of running during the race. they definitely aren't easy...and can be totally boring...but at least they're only once a week. :)

this kind of stuff is so hard! i always freak out about getting behind...but then i end up further behind for pushing it. you're smart to take a few days off. do you think it could be the hills? does the half course have a lot of hills?
