Today's run was the first since I started my taper for the upcoming 1/2. I'll admit, this was the right time to start the taper for reasons that go beyond the training plan. I was starting to look at my training calendar and think of it as a chore. This is a good lesson; 12 weeks is about my limit on being able to follow a training plan. I feel like I'm ready to chase the goals I've set (sub-20 5K, sub-1:40 1/2), and I'm looking forward to the races.
And then I'm ready for a couple of weeks of cross-training while I plan out my next adventure.
Tonight's run was a simple, easy four miler. I didn't push myself at all and listened to an audiobook as I hit a few mild hills. This was an uphill run since I started at my house and ended at the in-laws (insert cliche joke here). I felt good and almost a little lazy for not pushing harder! I had to remind myself that I can push myself all that I want in 10 days, save it for then!

Great job saving up for the race! Nice 4!

Nice job tapering physically & mentally. You're smart to pay attention to how much training you LIKE to do as well as what you can take physically. We can overtrain both ways. I've learned that tri training in the summer when my kids are home the whole time makes me crazy & sad so I choose later races. Its a lot mental!! Great job on this 4 miler!
