Usual tempo workout, ran an easy opening mile then hit the middle four hard (4x 6:40mm). I closed with an easy cooldown, but for some reason I really wanted to end the workout with an even time number so I ran the last 1/4 mile at a 6mm pace. It felt good to know I still had enough left in the tank *after* the tempo was over to hit the end hard!
This is my second to last tempo before the 5K & 1/2 on May 5/6. I'm really hoping for a sub-20 5K, and if tonight is any indication I think I can do it. I ran 4 miles just to get my body used to sustaining a hard pace for more than the length of the 5K, and I hit the first 3 at 20 minutes exactly (5K = 20:40). I'm hoping that between a shorter distance and adrenaline I cross that finish line with my goal in hand!
