good Run to Save the Family 3.04 mi 00:25 08:19 pace

After walking down to the playground in the state park with the family and dogs, a couple of things became apparent: 1) my dogs are old and don't like the heat, 2) my idea of a long walk and everyone else's idea of a long walk differ GREATLY, and 3) it was going to take six hours to get back to the car if we all walked back together.

To alleviate a lot of issues, I offered to run back to the car while the kids played on the park's playground. Everyone agreed this was a great idea, so I took off in a pair of VERY old running shoes to get the car. This was the first time I've ever had to run because someone was relying on me, as opposed to running for fun! I hit a bit of true trail on the way back and this slowed me some, plus I wasn't really ready for running in 80+ degrees. Still, it was cool to get a few miles in and feel like I was saving my family at the same time!
