I am on fire right now. It's official. Best week ever to start being a good runner.

  3. RUN
    great 4.3 mi 00:38 08:51 pace

My sprinting intervals are working a little too well because I'm going a lot faster than I mean to. This is a good thing, but it's scary in the last few days of training. I feel like I&#x... read more

Um, well, long story. I wanted to do both the Derby marathon here and the Flying Pig in Cincy. Last year they were on different weekends. This year, one is Saturday and the other is Sunday. So I am doing the Mini on Saturday, then driving up to Cincinnati for the full Flying Pig. In hindsight, it's probably stupid, but I'm doing it anyway. Once I get an idea in my head, I'm too stubborn to let it go. It'll probably be fine.

      Enjoy the progress!! BTW:
Thanks for the advice on the shin splints. I'm taking a couple days off to rest. There's a 5k here in Louisville (Throo the Zoo) that I'd like to run in.. I just have to get past these stupid splints lol.

Heat and humidity is my friend :)

  5. RUN
    great 4.34 mi 00:43 09:48 pace

So glad it's warm in the morning now because I have a serious obsession with sweating. Tomorrow I'm doing a long run of an as-of-yet undetermined length. We'll see how I feel at 6 AM.

  6. RUN
    good 3.3 mi 00:30 09:00 pace

This is all I had time for this morning because I have to work early and I didn't want to wake up at 3 AM. I discovered I got a blister from my 21-miler Saturday. It's not bad, though.

Wish I was more of a morning person...I rarely get a run in before work. Nice job...take care of that blister!

There's no way to feel great after running that far, but I think I felt the best I could possibly feel. I'm scared that I'm not sure or anything. I'm waiting for it.

Long runs always hurt lol Just no getting around it. Way to knock out some serious distance! You have to feel great about the run even if you don't feel good afterwards :-)

Wow that hurts just to read. Are you running the full Derby and Flying Pig marathons back to back?

Maggie, I'm running the mini and then the Flying Pig the next day. I have someone flying down from Boston to do it with me, too. We're idiots, but I wanted to do both races! It's not my fault they scheduled them one day after the other... teehee.

  10. RUN

Race week easy run. It was like a sauna outside. I love sweating.

  11. RUN
    good 13.1 mi 02:28 11:18 pace

The thrill I have from finishing this makes up for the fact that my left hip will be locked up for about two weeks. I know I can do it and that's why I'm smiling :)

  12. RUN
    great 4.7 mi 00:52 11:04 pace

Quick recovery run to get my body right after the 8-miler and before the 13.1.

  13. RUN
    great 8 mi 01:25 10:37 pace

I now have confidence going into the 10-miler and the half. This was AWESOME.

  14. RUN
    blah 3.24 mi 00:34 10:25 pace

Asthma season. This is all I could get through before I almost coughed my lung out.

  15. RUN
alright Rodes City Run 6.28 mi 01:02 09:52 pace

I wanted under an hour. I did not get it. I thought I ran my heart out, but I guess it wasn't hard enough. After this run, I physically feel great, but I mentally want to quit.

I've had races where I could definitely relate to that statement afterwards "I physically feel great, but I mentally want to quit"...usually I'm very fast the next race (more focused training and racing coming from the disappointment) :-) So good luck next time out!
