Yikes, it has been a long time since I have posted a run! (But I have been running, I promise!) I stopped posting a few weeks ago when things around here got hectic, and then I guess I just fell out of my DM routine. Sorry I have missed following everyone's training! But the story is:

I ran the Baltimore marathon back in October (which I posted). The race itself went very well, considering that I wasn't properly trained-up for it, but in the days after Bmore I began to realize that my post-race soreness wasn't going away like it had in the past. I had strained my left hip flexor pretty badly (I didn't feel it during the actual race, but a few days post-race, OUCH!). One week after the marathon, I still couldn't even run a half mile before it became really painful. My dilemma was that I was scheduled to run the Marine Corps Marathon the next weekend, so I decided to stop running entirely for that week, and hoped that would be enough recovery time to allow me to run MCM.

So, my husband and I did go to DC that weekend, and although I wanted to believe I could run it, in the back of my mind I knew it was a risk. I was really happy and excited as I waited in my corral (the atmosphere at MCM really is incredible!), but before I'd reached mile 2, my hip flexor was hurting. In retrospect, I should have stopped then, but I was so caught-up in the buzz and energy of the race that I convinced myself maybe the pain would go away. It didn't, and it got increasingly worse...by mile 16 my hip flexor had me in tear-inducing pain, and I knew it was time to stop. So, my first DNF. :( It was disappointing, but I realize it was something beyond my control. Anyway, my hip flexor is still not 100%, but I think it's getting close!

I hope you'll be able to resolve the hip flexor during the winter off season so you'll be back 100% next year. Welcome back and glad to know you are still running! Sorry about the MCM DNF, tough but smart thing to do. Nice 6 and have a nice day!
