    alright BTW 9 mi 00:45 12.0mph pace

Meh, it was good to ride (been a long time!), but everything felt just a little off. Part of it was that Ben rode the bike last, so the seat was too low, too forward and too angled down for me. I... read more

This was definitely NOT a c.c. skiing day, it was downhill at Yawgoo, in RI. I thought there was an "other" button on here somewhere. Anyway, good day of solid skiing with Ben. Fun tim... read more

good Basement trainer 16 mi 01:00 16.0mph pace

Rode on the trainer in the basement for a while. I did some stand-up/ sit down drills, but mostly just spun for an hour to try to keep things loose. Watched a good part of ThorĀ®. Fun movie. :)

It was fine. Still taking it easy on the knee. I can feel it straining from time to time, so a low-level elliptical workout seems to do the trick. No pounding, but gets the blood moving and the ... read more

Yes, I need to somehow get up to the 300-mile months again! And then sustain that! What I may have to do is just figure out a solid plan for bike-commuting on the days Janice does not have classes/ clients/ practicum: it may not be training, but the miles add up and they all help!!! Now if only I could keep away from my student's "Better than crack" brownies. Oh man, they are solid!

Commuting sounds like a good plan. The brownies might be solid, but you won't be if you keep eating them. :)

Yeah, take it easy on that knee. Always better to take things a little slow at the first sign of injury or stress rather than weeks or months off later. I am beginning to learn that myself :)

    alright Post-bike cooldown 4.6 mi 00:45 09:46 pace

I thought I'd ellipticize on the lowest setting to keep my knee moving without excessive bending or resistance. It felt okay, much better than on the bike.

I'm finding that less and less likely now. I get back from my conference Friday night after leaving Jan with the kids for three/four days... leaving for half the day on Sunday will be a tough sell.

Not fun. I'll burn it to a disc and you can have "fun" too. The on the bike portions are pretty tough, 5 min. TT/tempo efforts... but it's the off the bike squats and iso-squats that leave my legs shaking. I do mean that literally. The first set of squats are fine, challenging, but fine, the next few sets hurt. A lot.

Too bad it's squats and not calf raises....you would crush those while laughing in their faces! :-) I've never done that one either, sounds like a good garage workout on a winter day.

The Runervals are pretty good. I've got a few now, but have only done three of them. The first one I WAY overestimated what my base pace would be and really struggled: you end up going three miles an hour over that (at least in the vid's I've done). The second one was better, but also a little too fast. This last one was a hair too slow, but I'm pretty close to nailing the "right" base pace for me. They're on my computer, any time you want a disk or two for a 'mill workout, they're yours, my man! Di

Nice run, Alex. The literature that came with my shoes said 1.5 - 2 miles at a time for 2 weeks before upping the ante. But then again, you have superhuman calves, so you can probably just start at the 50k mark!
