(This will be long, but worth it, I hope.) To get out there today, I had to remind myself why I run. I run, because sometimes, I don't know what else to do. I run to remember my worth, and to keep away from those who don't. I run to be strong. I run to be powerful. I run to keep from crying. I run to lose myself. I run to find myself. I run because I am afraid of what will happen if I don't. I run to feel the wind on my skin. I run to feel the ground under my feet. I run because I can. I run to belong and I run to be special. I run because it's easy sometimes. I run because it's hard sometimes. I run because I don't know what I'm capable of, and maybe, just maybe, it will teach me. I run to ease the pain of loss, sadness, rejection, abuse, neglect, and heartache. I run to feel the joy of movement. I run to be alone. I run to be with other runners. I run to find peace. I run so I have a reason to get up in the morning. I run so I can sleep at night. I run so I can wear bright neon colors and it's totally acceptable. I run in hopes that it will make me a little better every day. I run because I'm broken and it helps to heal me. I run to be free. I run to save my life.
