My brave body keeps putting up with what I ask it to do, so I'll keep asking it to do things. Like run ridiculous distances for no apparent reason...

  1. RUN
good Trail Run Thursday 3.33 mi 00:57 17:07 pace

I had my first ever trail mishap. I managed to roll my ankle towards the end, but I think it's going to be fine. It could have been much worse. Other than that, a great night with a great group.

Trail rolled ankles are much different than road rolled ankles. They are only half rolls on the trail. Or, perhaps the scenery distracts you from the pain.....

great more recovery 12.02 mi 01:05 05:24 pace

Feeling much better today, almost all the soreness is gone. I did abs and some hip work afterwards. I started reading John Bingham's book "The Accidental Athlete". I love it.

  4. FIT
good so lazy 3.54 mi 00:30 08:28 pace

Super duper slow spin to give my tired legs a break. There's a decent amount of soreness lingering. I did some abs and foam rolling afterwards.

  6. RUN
good Howloween Half Marathon 13.1 mi 03:02 13:53 pace

Race two of two for the day. Gorgeous night for running. The pain didn't really set in until mile 9 (mile 22 for the day), so that's pretty good. This time Jaime E. and I rocked our muscl... read more

  8. FIT
good faster recovery spin 14.12 mi 01:05 04:36 pace

A much faster spin tonight. The legs are feeling a bit better every day.

  9. FIT
good easy recovery 11.04 mi 01:05 05:53 pace

Well, my legs are tired. Go figure. Spinning the soreness out felt nice though.

  10. walk
good Delicate Arch hike 3 mi

A nice hike after my half, on weary legs. Still a nice way to spend the afternoon.

  11. RUN
good The Other Half 13.13 mi 03:01 13:46 pace

Well that was better than expected. This finish time is only two minutes slower than I was on this course last year, and I didn't run a half before it last year. I think I may finally be impro... read more

I never said that I want to race faster. Races aren't races for me. They're great big group runs. I train by myself, I don't have any running partners. Races are where I go to be with other runners and get my mileage in. I've never been fast, I'll most likely never be fast. But I'll keep showing up and having a good time!

Your perspective about running in general, and races in particular, are refreshing and inspiring.

  13. RUN
great SoJo Half Marathon 13.1 mi 02:46 12:38 pace

Half one of two for the weekend done! And I felt fantastic the whole time. I hope the legs feel good for the Other Half here in Moab tomorrow...

  15. RUN
good Trail run Thursday 3 mi 00:52 17:19 pace

A gorgeous evening out there tonight. Slow going to enjoy it all, until the end when I tried to keep up with a faster runner. Downhill brings out the competition.

  16. FIT
good Wednesday spinning 12.4 mi 01:05 05:14 pace

Spin bike miles and some foam rolling for this Wednesday evening.

  17. RUN
    good easy 2 2 mi 00:24 11:46 pace

Running two miles is weird. It's like it's over before it begins... still, it's nice to do a short work out once in a while.

    • Christopher

Ha! Try the streak, and the ubiquitous 1 mile efforts to keep a streak alive. Definitely surreal to put in a high mileage weekend, then recover with 1 mile trots. :) Si, I hear ya loud and clear, Ultra Grrrl!

I never think it's worth the effort- it takes as long to get ready for the run as it does to run! But miles are miles!

    Tuesday miles 3 mi 00:36 11:55 pace

I finally got on the treadmill and got some miles in. I was distracted by my new pet frogs. It's so relaxing to watch them swimming around.

    • Rachel D.

I love frogs and toads!!! What kind did you get? I used to have a South American horned frog (i.e. pacman frog) in college.
