So, to say that we didn't sleep much is an understatement. We barely slept at all. We really thought that after van 2 took over following wave 2, that we'd have some time to sleep, but as I crossed the finish, I heard someone say that due to the shorter legs during the next segment, we'd only have 3-4 hours off (and we still had to drive to Kenosha from Milwaukee). This is where things got harder. I think I managed to sleep a little, but I honestly don't remember. Everything was very fuzzy and before I knew it, the sun was coming up and people all around me were talking of kringle. Finally when it was our turn, we all shook it off and headed out to finish. We knew that after this leg we would be done and could head to Chicago. This is where being the last runner really sucked. All I wanted to do was get my leg out of the way.To make matters worse, I had a TERRIBLE case of motion sickness. I'm talking running to the bathroom to vomit, carsick. It was horrible and I felt like a first class wimp. But, the good thing was that I felt tons better outside the van. So, one by one my teammates finished and finished STRONG! Seriously, these people amaze me. It was as if they had just started the first leg. And then it was my turn. I told everyone that I was taking it slow because really I had no idea how I'd feel out there. This leg was a "non van supported leg" for me, as it took place along the MRK trail. I started out at a steady clip and felt okay. I kept telling myself that I could take this one easy. I was carsick. I had no sleep. Everyone would understand. But then I thought about having three sub-9 legs and I decided there was no way I was slowing down. At one point a guy passed me and yelled, "This is their way of making up for the hills in the first leg." He meant that the trail was nice and easy. I agreed with him and tried not to vomit. Lol. When I came into the finish all my teammates were there (this is the perk of being the last runner in the van). I was so happy because I knew van 1 was done. We wished van 2 luck and headed to Chicago. When we got to the finish we realized that Krista was going to be finishing for her team at any moment. We rushed to the finish to await her arrival. When we saw her coming we did our standard "power arch". This was my absolute favorite part of Ragnar because the look on that girl's face was of utter shock to see us. She was so happy, we were so happy. It was an amazing moment and I'll never ever forget it. Then it was our turn to finish. The van 2 guys arrived and we waited for our captain, Marty. Once he reached us, we all ran in together as one team. It was awesome:) Thanks again, Tracey G., Amy K., Anthony M Van H., Matt J., Jordan H., Marty, Ken V., Brett L., Augie, Jason, and Scott for being the best Ragnar team ever!

Awesome job Ro! If you're going to be a wimp, might as well be a first class one! (PS You aren't any kind of wimp).
