  1. RUN
    great Progr. w/ BDT 5.71 mi 00:51 08:59 pace

This was awesome. No calf issues, quads just a bit tired. BDT did great as I lead him (sometimes to his displeasure) through some faster paces: miles 2-4 @ 8:46, 8:32, and 8:03 oops.

  2. RUN
    great 13+ miles with the Birthday g... 13.82 mi 02:13 09:36 pace

Just the right pace for an easy run, hills didn't kill me, my CALF felt fine, and I got to run with Julia M., the kind of mother-academic-runner-cool person we all hope we'll be someday. :)

  3. walk
good Walk with my mom 2 mi

    A good venting walk.

  4. FIT
    good Trainer's 01:30

Faster (with less weight) was the theme of the day.

  5. RUN
great with my mom 3 mi

My mom is in training for a half this fall as part of our girls' weekend. She did great! And I felt great!

  6. RUN
    good Rochester-Scott-Friendship/CS... 5.83 mi 00:50 08:33 pace

Tempo run. 2x2@tempo 8-8:15, which, despite my calf acting up a bit I managed (8:10, 8:09, 8:11, 8:14). Nice morning for a run!!!

  7. VELO

MMMM. Nice and cool. It is so, so hot!

  8. swim
    Mercer 600 yd

I have started with reading about swimming technique, maybe sometime I'll arrange to meet with the same instructor we sometimes use for our kids. Can't hurt to swim more efficiently.

Also, let us know how the swim instructor goes! I was probably 10 when I had my last swim lesson - unless you count that summer when Ross' swim coach grandma gave me some fins and told me to use them.

  10. RUN
good Tuesday with Kelly 8.5 mi 01:20 09:25 pace

I think this is the best I have felt running in a long time. A little tightness in the first mile or so in the calf and then just some general tiredness. Maybe I should do speedwork the day befor... read more

Turning a corner, maybe? I hope so. Then again, I think a lot of little niggles will disappear in the company of good running friends. Good miles, Robin.

Lately, whenever I think of gender inequities, whether in sports, work, or elsewhere, I call on my cartoon alter ego's words. That was really crummy in Grinnell.

I have only stretched minimally before running. Stretching during usually helps. I am just confused -- why now? It seems like it has increasingly been an issue since December or so.
