When I started on my little 5-minute warm-up directly into the wind, I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to do this one. Then I turned around to run the other way and found that if I jumped straight up in the air the wind would push me forward. Maybe there was some hope after all.
Fortunately, at the start of the race the wind seemed to have died down somewhat and I wasn't overcome with my previous feelings of futility and despair. Fueled by a renewed sense of purpose, I took off too fast. At least I think it was too fast, but I didn't have any frame of reference to be sure. I had a vague idea of where mile 1 was, but didn't see any signs, so not sure what my pace was there.
Had a vague idea of where mile 2 was but didn't see any signs there either, so not sure what my pace was there.
Saw the sign at mile 3, but by that time I had forgotten all about my pace and was content to finish on my 2 feet.
I'm going to run WS #8 on a Segway. Nice to see all our friends out there today. Hope to see everyone next Saturday!

This race had the perfect title because I thought I was going to lose my shirt a couple times with those wind gusts. Great race and continued improvement!
