I had very limited time available tonight, so I decided I could slip 4 miles in. Did a quick zone 4 out, and then took it easy on the way back. It was very uncomfortable for me at this pace, but it was also 84 degrees. Sometime when it is a little cooler and I have time to do some proper warm up I will try and push for 3 miles at this pace or better.

Wow, fantastic pacing. That's a smoking fast 2+ miles! And if your HR was truly in zone 4, it doesn't matter what the temp is -- it's going to be quite uncomfortable.

way to be creative. did you have trouble starting that fast out of the shoot? I have found that I need 10 min or so to warmup at bit.

I was thinking the same thing as Jason, maybe you would find it easier to hammer down if you did a mile or 2 warmup (or 10 mins)

I didn't have trouble starting out hard, but have noted in the past it seemed easier to maintain for a longer period and avoid burnout if I warmed up. That's why I mentioned to remind myself to next time do some proper warm up.
