  2. RUN
alright Robin Hood Half Marathon 13.1 mi 01:50 08:25 pace

No training so took it cautiously so as not to tank it.

  3. RUN
tired Newark Half Marathon 13.1 mi 01:50 08:23 pace

Note to self...When not fully fit and the temperature is in the 20's don't steam off and run a 45 minute 10k, because at mile 9 your world will end in muscle achingly painful fashion. That last 4 m... read more

Well done Richard! The Newark half always challenges me. On paper it's a straightforward race but in reality it is tough, the hit and humid condition were awful (hotter or at least more humid than last year i reckon) and that hill pops up at the worst time possible. I managed to comfortably tackle it as i've been training on if and that downhill is usually welcome but it aggravated my cut so i was in alot of pain! :) Awesome time anyway and you finished with a good time despite your fragmented training!

Finishing in 1:50 is a decent time so that is the one positive to take from today. But I'd rather run a steady paced 1:50 and finish comfortably, rather than suffer through the last few miles like today. I only have myself to blame though, even when I'm completely fit I know full well that when I start out too quick, I struggle later in the race. Only a month though until I can rectify today!

  4. RUN
    alright 5.43 mi 00:42 07:45 pace

Preparation has not been good for Sundays race for a multitude of reasons. Just going to have to just judge it on the day as I've no idea what time I'm capable of at the moment.

  5. RUN
    5.54 mi 00:43 07:45 pace

No run for 2 weeks due to work commitments, but started like a train tonight. Unfortunately the train ran out of steam at 3 miles and developed a bothersome stitch that I couldn't shake off. Still ... read more

  6. RUN
    good 7.89 mi 01:07 08:26 pace

Easy pace 8 miler tonight. feeling confident that the pace is coming with every mile I put in. Only concern is a lot of travel for work over the next 3 weeks so got to fit a run in whenever I can.

  7. RUN
    good 5.33 mi 00:39 07:16 pace

Decided to do a quicker run today to see how far I've come. Very happy with progress. 4 miles at 7.05 mile pace, then a mile and a bit at a slower pace to warm down at the end. Not quite up to wher... read more

  8. RUN
    alright 6.74 mi 00:57 08:26 pace

Gentle run to start the week. Aiming to run atleast 4 if not 5 times this week and get up over 30 miles. Only a few weeks until race#1 and I need to negate the unhealthy weekends with some big runs.

  9. RUN
    good 8.08 mi 01:09 08:30 pace

Started out a bit slower after RP's shocker on Monday and it seemed to work. Comfortable 8 miler and a couple of 7:30's for the last 2 miles. Starting to feel string again now and think I may be co... read more

  10. RUN
    alright 5.67 mi 00:50 08:48 pace

Really easy run tonight as running partner had a shocker. Will try and put at least 4 runs in this week to try and get up towards 30 miles.

  11. RUN
    good 5.01 mi 00:39 07:49 pace

Didn't go at it quite as hard on the return leg but still happy with the time. Was running on empty for the last mile and a half.

  12. RUN
    good 5 mi 00:39 07:42 pace

After spending the week in the scorching Italian sunshine, I thought I'd adapt to running in todays heat a lot better. Wow it was hot. Broke the run up into two legs and had stopped off half way fo... read more

  13. FIT
    alright 5 km 00:19 06:10 pace

10x500m /1 min rest. First row for a few months as I left it too late to get out the door for a run and lost the motivation. Decent workout on the rower though and it is a different type of fitness.

  14. RUN
    5.55 mi 00:43 07:43 pace

Had alot of good runs recently so I was due a bad one. The heat was obviously a big factor but I struggled today. Probably a deserved reaction to Saturdays party for the boxing.

  16. RUN
    good 8.83 mi 01:10 07:54 pace

  17. RUN
    good 8.07 mi 01:03 07:51 pace

Still some way off where I need to be fitness wise but seen a seen a significant improvement over the last 2 weeks. Starting to look forward to my runs again rather than dreading them!

Yeah I've got it in the diary. I assume you'll be running again this year? I'm lining it up to attempt a P.B, but if it is as hot as last year I may have to use it as a training run and go all out at the Robin Hood half in September instead.

  20. RUN
    good 5.01 mi 00:38 07:36 pace

New trainers appear to be working. No leg pain anymore. The quicker pace destroyed me though. Heavy weekends and quick runs do not make for a good combination.
