God that was cold, and a painful start to the day. Again major knee pain after 20 mins, although this had subsided by 45 min into the ride. I now remember my physio telling me a long time ago that it can take longer than normal for the knees to warm up in the morning due to them being inactive for so long. It's something to do with the gel sack that the tendon runs through, so I'll just have to take it easy first thing from now on

I think it's going to be weeks to get it fully sorted Kevin. The last time I had tendonitis like this I was running and it was 3 months before I could start training properly and 6 months before I was pain free. It's not quite as bad this time but it's all down to a muscle imbalance that takes time to correct and get the patella tracking correctly again. That said the left knee has been fine since so it pays to take the time and get things right.

I bet the cold does not help either - it sounds like at least you know what the problem is.
