The Arroyo Seco river bike path to Los Angeles from Pasadena. Quite scenic in some spots, such as this one. And, as you can see, not too crowded for an ideal city run or bike ride.

  • As u can tell by my post, Evan and I had fun on the hike. But the less fun part was seeing that the Holy fire, started yesterday and about 50 miles from here, is clearly visible from our Idyllwild trail, and growing, Photo by Evan.
  • meanwhile, Idyllwild and parts north or east of town are still like this - lush, green. So grateful to the army of 1500 firefighters and the air tankers who swarmed in like a Best Buy opening on black Friday, quickly stomping out the fires
  • What much of the land looks like south of town. Amazing that the firefighters held the line - only 5 homes burned.
  • today's trail was surprising dense with foliage; from a distance, on approach, the landscape looked barren. But the trail follows a stream bed (dry this time of year), so it gave some shade.
  • the geographic gist of today's run
  • Views worth chillin' for up on suicide rock.
  • Chillin' up on suicide rock. I never take for granted the pleasure of living in such a beautiful place. It means that on weekdays, even in the summer, I can do 8 miles of an absolutely gorgeous trail adventure like this, and yet not see a single soul
  • home turf makes me happy ;8^)
