car broke down in my driveway as next door neighbor was leaving; bummed a ride from her to do lunch at my friend Bernard's, then walked back up the hill to home.

Nothing like car trouble to get the week started off well. You made lemonade... I hope it's nothing serious.

At least it didn't interfere with lunch.

Better in your driveway, than in the middle of nowhere. Good hill walk.

As Allen said! You have bad luck with that thing. Most people I know who have those, have few troubles with it.

good thoughts and good words from you all, thanks. Car: Steering went out. Seriousness of it ($$) is TBD. Mel/Shelly: Great fortune that neighbor was just then pulling out, heading into town too. Jill - more than a sign; universe aligning, it turns out. While walking home in the dark, an elderly lady was struggling in vain to geta log splitter hitched up, so i was able to assist her with it. Mighta hurt herself if I'd not been forced to walk by because of the car issue.

Allen/Pierre/Stacy - Amen that it happened as i was pulling out, rather than while i was winding my way down a curvy mountain road. Pierre - the trick is to get a new enough Kia. From about 2009 and newer, Consumer Reports gives them good ratings. Mine is from 2006 -- a plethora of trouble.

Hate care trouble...adds just too much stress! Glad things worked out and you were able to help out. Stay safe
