Evening run - didn't feel warmed up until 3 miles in, so I decided to run long. At the 5 mile mark, I decided to go longer, might as well put in a half. I put the hammer down for the return ru... read more

I've not been training for anything - these are stress-relief runs.

Took the oldest three kids hiking at Cedar Falls. The funny thing was this is my favorite running trail, so it was a lot different hiking it with the kids!

It's amazing how "tough" people can be while you're running away from them :) Great review of the shoes too!!

I love that you were rockin' this run and showing the guys who the cool one is. Hopefully the shoes start to really relax with some more miles in them.

Welcome to the Kinvara club, I've been in them almost exclusively since November 2011 (I was using some newtons for speedwork, but I'm over those now). Nice run Rev!

Glad you like the shoe. I have a pair of Kinvara 1's and use them mainly for trail runs. Mine have about 300 miles on them but still allow you to feel the ground and are light!

Take care of yourself, Rev! We've had an awful flu bug in our house for over two weeks now which has totally derailed our training. Sleep when you can!!

Nice way to start the week. Small people may be amazing, but they do tend to kill sleep. Good luck!

I'm loving my new shoes too -- I chose to break them in on a 14 miler so I hear you on the blisters. Also haven't found the sweet spot on how tight/loose to make the laces.

I know that "laces" feeling. The last pair I had of this kind of shoes needed special lacing because of a hot spot the laces caused. And once I loosened the right shoe, the rubbing was not as bad.

I think winter miles are harder on shoes. Less trails, more treadmill (and ship deck) miles.
Maybe the cold compromises the compression- just thinking.

Good thought about the shoes, but I'm not sure - since I only wear Sketchers on the treadmill and I didn't bring the Mizunos on the cruise ship. I was thinking maybe road salt, but Wellston doesn't use a lot of salt...

Not much to write about. An easy run after lunch - weather reports were iffy for a while, but it ended up being 70* and sunny, so I ran shirtless and was a sweaty, stinky mess.
