  1. RUN
great Bolton Hill 2.49 mi 00:30 12:02 pace

    Holy crap. I ran!
I went with my neighbor and the chatting kept me distracted enough that I didn't realize how far we went. I definitely ran for longer than I would have if I'd been alone.

  2. RUN
    alright 6 kills 2 probables 2.9 mi 00:45 15:31 pace

Ran to the WWII Memorial in honor of Papa on Memorial Day. The "run" involved a lot of walking, and some sitting and contemplating mortality.

  3. FIT
good Will it go round in circles 00:25

Eliptical for 25 min and then weights for 10.

  4. FIT
    great Roller Derby Workshop 02:00

    New skills, new bruises

  5. FIT
    great Charm City Yoga 01:15

I did every modification to really try and push myself to the limit, but it turned out to be an easy class over all.

EDIT: 24 hours later, my abs tell a different tale. Oof.

  7. walk
good Patapsco Swinging Bridge 2.5 mi

Paved path with lots of bicyclists, kids, and runners. Silly to post this walk, but I crave the bars at the top of my profile. Also, my legs were a bit sore today. Is this a delay from my run an... read more

    great Starlight Express 00:20

I love working in theatre sometimes. A bare stage with a swept plywood deck is almost as good as a skating rink! Sadly, the carpenters install a set first thing Monday. It was nice practicing ti... read more

  9. RUN
    2.76 mi 00:40 14:30 pace

I took a run from work down around the Washington Monument and back at sunset. The weather was lovely, the views were lovely, the music was pumping, but it was a little disheartening. So far I've... read more

Hey, you have to start somewhere! There's no shame whatsoever in taking walk breaks, no matter how many you have to take and what your run/walk ratio is. Just keep at it, and eventually you find yourself running more than you walk. This is how I got started, this is how I got my mom started, and it's how I got Mike started.

  10. FIT
    alright Rockstar 01:15

I felt a little wobbly on my skates tonight--like nothing was coming naturally, so I decided to practice my falls and recoveries off to the side of the rink. I got some tips from a male derby play... read more

  11. RUN
    alright Treadmill 1.52 mi 00:25 16:26 pace

I take no shame in interspersing my jog with a power walk.

  12. FIT
good My Friday night social life 3.5 mi 01:20 22:51 pace

Stationary bike then eliptical then some stretching. Nothing heroic--just all around maintenence session 'cause it's been a while since I did any cardio.

  13. FIT
great Skatertots and rim shops 01:20

Crossovers are getting better, but only in a wide arc. I need to try to turn tighter corners. I wore my pads for the first time, and used them to their full advantage when frequently falling tryi... read more

    alright Feelings 01:05

Class was 15 minutes late starting and then began with "Let's all go around the room and say how we feel today." I "feel" that we should start on time. I paid for 75 minutes o... read more

great Skatertots at Putty Hill 02:00

I met up with some rollergirls and "skatertots" at Putty Hill. It was a nice mix of people, and very inspiring. I can see an improvement in my crossover skating already, but I definitel... read more

  16. walk
    great CenterStage 2.5 mi 00:50 20:00 pace

Walking to work > driving to work.
It's really silly to post such a short walk, but I'm a little obsessed with this website and I want to see more bars at the top of my profile.

  17. RUN
blah I Can Has Cheezburger 1.93 mi 00:30 15:32 pace

What kind of asshat turns the TV in a cardio room to a show about delicious fatty foods?
For 30 minutes I had cheesburgers and milkshakes staring at me.

Blech I hate that! It makes me feel queasy to watch food television while I'm working out.

  18. RUN
good Lansburgh Treadmill 1.6 mi 00:26 16:15 pace

First time in a long time I've been on a treadmill. It was a little disheartening to see how out of shape I am, but not as hard to keep pushing onward as I thought it would be.

  19. FIT
    good Yoga 01:15

I need to remember to hydrate and eat something before class. I nearly passed out when the goin' got tough. Jessica was a good teacher, but not my first choice for newcomers

I started to contemplate the method of backwards skating, but I'm still not confident with my forwards skating ability. Watching the pros is simultaneously inspiring and frustrating. I want to be... read more
