Well, I feel like I can officially post again now that I've come back onto the racing scene. :-) I was SO nervous about this race, not because I was expecting to do great, but because I haven't raced since the Jingle Bell 5K. My goal for today was to cross that finish line and to try not to get discouraged as other runners whizzed by me... I was having some stomach cramping and other issues all morning (I'm sure in part attributed to nerves), so the whole crossing the finish line really was an important goal. While Rob and I were warming up, Jamey yelled out, "Great to see you running again, Becky!" I was bombarded with other encouraging remarks from April, Amy, Vern, Lisa, and others. Those few words really boosted my spirits and I realized that it was quite an accomplishment just to be finally running again!

Even in my recovering state, I still darted out at the start as usual and stayed right behind April for about a minute. After that, not only did I lose her, but everyone and their mother passed me. That first mile was a little rough, both physically and mentally... As I approached the turnaround, it was awesome to see so many of you so far ahead! I got a little burst of energy around mile 2 and picked it up a little, but apparently not enough since little Dalton zoomed by me at mile 3. :-/ I tried to pick up the pace even more, but I couldn't catch him. I was feeling pretty discouraged when I caught a glimpse of my time, but then I heard so many of you yelling encouragements at the finish and reminded myself, I'm here, I'm healthy, I'm back! And it felt fabulous!! Can't wait for the next race! It was so great to see so many of you there - congratulations to Vern, Bryan, and Marisa on your PR's!

Now to go back and add in all of my previous March mileage. Sorry for the delay, Team Alex...

You're an inspiration Becky in so many ways! Way to face your fears and get this pivotal race behind your belt so to speak. It is always such a joy to be amongst you & Rob at the races! I think that is a great time honestly. You have had to overcome much.
