great 7-mile Pace Run 7.01 mi 00:54 07:41 pace

A rare "great", not that it was altogether without pain, but my hip didn't complain much, save for a brief downhill stretch at the tail end of mile 6.

The plan for today called for seven miles at marathon pace. I've said before I have no idea what a realistic pace target is for me; past history isn't a good guide, as my hip wasn't an issue then. ... but I'm going to keep running at my normal intensity until my body starts telling me I shouldn't. With that mindset, I targeted 7:45 to 7:50 per mile split, plus or minus 5 seconds to account for frequent elevation changes.

In general, I did quite well against my goal, with only one split that was a little on the fast side. Splits were: 7:45, 7:41, 7:35 (the lone outlier), 7:46, 7:40, 7:46, and 7:44. I felt generally comfortable throughout on this one, finding myself regularly "pulling it back" at the end of nearly every split. Some of the uphills were a bit of a test, but they're supposed to be.

I've got a solo 14, my longest run of the training cycle, planned for early tomorrow morning. I'm very pleased with how things have been going, especially in light of the circumstances. Hoping I can hold it together for another ten weeks!
