Drove up to Northern California (Sonora, on State Hwy 49) on Friday to have a long overdue weekend visit with mom. We'd pre-planned an LSD for Saturday morning where I'd run and she'd cycle, and we'd wander our way around the gold country. Well, we stayed up w-a-y to late Friday night and so got up late this morning and didn't get out the door until after 8:30 AM. The final plan was to take both our cars and mom's bike up the road somewhere to about 1.5 miles, leave mom's car and bike, and then return home in my car. This way mom would run with me for the first 1.5 miles and then switch over to the bike for the rest.

It was in the high 50's when we left, a very pleasant first-day-of-Spring Saturday morning. The first 1.5 miles included some pretty good hills and we kept it a very comfortable pace for mom, including walking up a couple of the steeper hills. Once we picked up her bike we picked up the pace as well and hit the main section of our route; we'd mapped out a large figure eight loop route that took us out beyond and around the Columbia airport and then back to our out-n-back starting leg on Jamestown Road. We went 9|1 run|walk intervals the whole way and I was super focused on working the S in LSD. I feel really good about the pace I kept....finally! I nailed the S correctly for the first time in months. The route overall was a very varied and undulating route and the splits show it, coming as 14:04, 11:41, 10:10, 9:47, 10:20, 10:06, 10:09, 10:28, 10:13, 9:51, and 9:30. When we finished it was well and good into Spring with the temperature pushing the low 70's. This was a really good run and a really good visit. Thanks mom!
